Bio:
A group of mostly-unnamed Kandorians who, while still tiny, exit the bottle, gain many of the powers of Superman, and help Superman on Earth.

They have various functionalities. Basically, they are the "watchers" of all things Superman, but there are four specific things they're typically shown to do. First, their corps of Watchers constantly monitor Superman's activity--so they can spring into action if Superman falls. Second, they are an integral part of the Fortress of Solitude's security system. If they note something awry in the Fortress, they exit the bottle and put up a good defense. Third, they stand ready to assist in battle if ever Superman calls them. Finally, they are pledged to helping Superman continue the illusion of Clark Kent. Some do this by way of being actual body doubles, while others, who ostensibly look less like The Man of Steel or his alter ego, use their powers to create the effect of Superman's presence.

SPECULATION: It would be logical to conclude that the degree to which this group had Superman's power would be substantially different in current (2005) Superman continuity, than it was in the pre-Crisis days. The exact role of sunlight in Superman's power scheme has been better defined lately, such that, one would assume, if Kandor were ever to make an appearance in the post-Crisis DCU, these guys couldn't just pop out of the bottle and magically have all of Superman's powers. Still, that's pretty much what happened back in the Weisinger glory days.

First appearance is in Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen (1954) #48.
