Good but unfortunatly flawed - Thai
This is a run on Batman from the creators of 100 bullets Brian Azzarello & Eduardo Risso, it revolves around a woman being found with marks on her body that can only be from one man Killer Croc and then leads on to something else all together.
The plot behind this story starts of quite simple and certainly has a crime-noir feel to it, Batman's narrative is also well written although sometimes I feel it's there just to prove how much of a bad-ass Batman is.
The art I found dark, gritty and moody, it tell's that the artist and writer have a history as the art & writing go hand in hand.
I do have a big problem with a couple of aspects of the story though.
One is the Jokers involvement, it's far to random for him to be involved as much as he claims but at the same time how else would he no the details?
This is the second time in as many story arc's that the Jokers involvement is simply for him to be portrayed in a story which I can understand but can we have the Joker portrayed in the way he deserves.
I didn't really like the new villians who appeared in tis arc either and find it hard to believe that someone could get the drop on Batman as easily as little boy did.
This aside I did like the way Scarface was portrayed though, Scarface can be considered a laughable villain but I've always wondered why a writer has never explored (If this aspect hs ben explored then I've missed it) the notion of whether Scarface is actually really alive but this came close in some very suttle moments.
I do feel that although the concept is goofy this Character is wasted in most other story's but in this one he most certainly is not and for once Arnold Wesker is actually the star of the show.
On the whole I did enjoy this arc but it did seem that some details of the plot were randomly put together and didn't fit.
This is recommended to any fan of Batman and does have some great writing withing the pages, I think some aspects of this story can be enjoyed by others also especially if you are into the crime-noir aspect of comics but unfortunatly you may be let down with a random ending that may in the end let down a well woven story.
