In Hong Kong the ghost of a betrayed police officer lurks on the streets, exacting vengeance on the criminals and gangsters of the city. Tipped off to his extistance by the Weekly World News, the Planetary field team goes to China to find the mystery.
At the Hong Kong office of Planetary, the director explains the phantom cop's origins and lead them to where he was killed. At this place, the Drummer finds several converging data streams, eventually digging down and finding an information repository, "a stack of hard drives."
The phantom cop appears to Planetary and describes to them that there is no afterlife, no eternal bliss or punishment. He finally kills the partner who betrayed him and tells Planetary that there is no mystery here, there's "just us."
The theme of this issue is based around John Woo films, particularly ones starring Chow Yun Fat as a police officer like The Killer and Hard Boiled. This style of direction is particularly evident in the way that Chi-Wai uses two guns to kill his opponents and the way he looks.
