Arriving in Japan, Magnus learns why he has been sought out. Refusing to help in the destruction of Grandmother, Magnus prepares to leave Japan the next day. During the night, Magnus is visited by Solar, who has not been seen for a thousand years. Solar gives Magnus a warning that an alien armada is posed to invade the Earth and he must protect Grandmother at all costs. Learning the truth, Magnus seeks to confront the Anti-Grannies, only to learn that they have come into possession of a powerful weapon with the ability to cripple Grandmother!

With the Anti-Grannie's weapon infecting Grandmother, Rai seeks out her brain to see how far the infection has progressed. Seeing a mechanical tumor, Rai seeks to save Grandmother from the cancer. Fighting off other versions of Grandmother, a true physical form of the computer manifests as a last ditch effort to save itself. Seeing no other solution, Rai destroys Grandmother's brain, shutting down Japan and leaving Earth vulnerable to alien attack!
