Bio:
Max Douglas aka Salgood Sam, started out drawing comics in the late 80s with small run zines. By 1992 he had began freelancing for Marvel, DC. Later in the decade he worked in animation, at Toronto's Nelvana Studios & and in '98 in Montreal with CinéGroupe. Around the turn of the millennium in addition to freelancing for both Marvel & DC occasionally, He returned to independent comics with a collection of short stories drawn over a few years and published in Revolver One, earning him a nomination for Best Emerging Talent in the inaugural 2005 Doug Wright Awards.
Since then he’s completed two critically acclaimed graphic novels-'Therefore, Repent!' with Jim Monroe [IDW/NMK] & 'Dream Life' [Spilt Ink]. A short arc on 'Sea of Red' [Vol.1 No Grave But the Sea from Image], and a number of short stories and one-offs, published in anthologies by Image, IDW, NMK, and his own boutique imprint Spilt Ink.
He also has a history of activism in the comics community, hosting Comix Jams in Toronto and Montreal. And as the publisher of Sequential, a canadian comics news blog. And for the last three years has taught Art &Comics at Syn Studio in downtown Montreal.
He's currently publishing Revolver Quarterly, featuring Memoirs, historical Vampire thrillers and other assorted genre's of work. Attending, sometimes organizing, occasional comics related events. And self publishing with Spilt Ink.
