Optimus Prime (Transformers)

Though he is but one Autobot, Optimus Prime consists of three separate but interconnected modules. The main unit is Optimus himself, who carries himself in robot mode or as the engine form of his semi-trailer vehicle mode.

Prime's second module is Roller, a small car-like infiltration robot incapable of transformation. For Prime, having Roller on the scene is like being there himself, as Roller transmits back all audio and visual recordings to Optimus.

His third module consists of the tractor trailer that trails behind him when in vehicle mode and opens up to become a high-powered combat deck on command. The deck is equipped with a high-powered auto launcher capable of firing a variety of explosive shells and beam weapons along with a dexterous grapple arm which it can use to swap out weapons or reload ammunition in the heat of combat. In addition, the trailer also includes a satellite relay uplink which allows Prime to communicate with any Autobot within 500 miles.

Though Prime can function through any of his modules, damage to one of them affects and is felt by the others. Roller is especially vulnerable, having very light armour plating and operating behind enemy lines much of the time. Of the three, however, the Optimus Prime robot is the most important - he can still function without the other two, but the inverse is not true. Aside from this, Prime's only true weakness is being too concerned for the well-being of the Autobots under his command and the helpless life forms he fights to defend. Being slightly more ruthless might make him a better military commander, of course...but then he wouldn't be Optimus Prime.

A warrior without falter, a leader without peer and the Autobot against whom all other Autobots judge themselves, Optimus Prime embodies everything a Transformer should embody. His courage knows no boundaries, and his compassion and empathy for all other life forms is unswerving even in the face of overwhelming odds. Optimus Prime battles the Decepticons to defend the weak and encourages others to stand for their beliefs as he stands for his. His fellow Autobots follow his shining example, for there has never been another like Optimus Prime.
